How To Invest
Georgetown Collegiate Investors welcomes all undergraduate students to join our membership. Our peer-investment club thrives on the combined skills and knowledge of our diversified members as we invest in the markets. Whether you are an incoming freshmen new to investments, or a senior analyst headed for Wall Street, all members will have a meaningful contribution to the club.
When joining GCI, your initial investment is pooled with the other members to create a shared investment portfolio. Each member then takes a proportional ownership of the club relative to their investment, thus dictating their ownership and voting rights. For example, a member who invests $400 in the company today would own roughly 0.67% of GCI; if GCI’s portfolio realizes a gain of 10%, the value of the individual’s share also increases by 10%, while their ownership/voting rights remain unchanged.
Members are encouraged to maintain their investment throughout their undergraduate career, but are free to withdraw their funds at any time. Additionally, all graduating seniors must cash-out their position upon departure from Georgetown University.
